After a few terrifying storms, we took cover under this bridge, dreading the veritable soaking we thought we would get. The last storm, I waded in water that went over my knees, this one was a light wetting.

Please feel free to comment or critique! It is through critique that we learn how to improve. I like to hear about the artistic impression, the sense of the image even more than the technique, unless the technique is somehow disturbing from the overall emotion communicated in the image.

a powerful double diagonal here Terre!! -- and i love the view beneath the overpass to the beginning of the neighborhood. a dynamic photo and a marvelous b/w. beautifully captured -- and i am glad this storm merely sprinkled instead of soaking you through to the bone! :)

@dj.tigersprout: It's a good thing it didn't rain harder as apparently this is one of the roads that washes out completely under this bridge. I would have been swimming!!

Brilliant image, and very well composed. You have included the bridge and road that travel in two different planes, while the point of interest - the young man is kept in the frame to the left.

I feel so much when I look at photos, that my first thoughts are never technical...I love this, I love the mood, one guy alone, wet streets it's greatly framed and the mood is intriguing and a little dark. Bravo for this Terre with the unusual name, who's a fellow Canadian and called me 'culturally imperialist' ;)

@Lorraine: I had to look around to figure out where I called a perfect stranger a "cultural imperialist" and figured it out!! Awww shoot. I wasn't referring to you, as I have no idea where your judgement comes from and from the post, it isn't cultural imperialism but a set of morals that you expressed that I also adhere to. Expressing ones own discontent with a practice in another culture based on a code of morality isn't cultural imperialism. Declaring that a culture is less valid or less civil based on a code of morality is cultural imperialism. Anyways, accept my apology for how that seemed in my comment!!!

What a fun pic! This is in the neighborhood I lived in as a kid (My stopping ground if you will) On rainy days the street used to flood so bad that traffic had to be redirected and kids would play in waste deep puddles. Also a fantastic bridge to watch trucks get stuck under... Thanks for making my neighborhood look so pretty Terre!

To me, there seems to be an interesting contrast between the bridge and the suburban houses - one expected factories and workshops for some reason :-)

@Scotfot: My city is a post-industrial centre. Even though this seems suburban, this is right next to a downtown with at least 8 closed-down factories in the process of being converted for other uses. These neat blends of city and industry happen everywhere in my area.
